At Bord‑Aire Community Centre, we’ve always believed that holidays feel a little more special when they’re shared — when neighbours gather, families connect, and our building fills with the kind of warmth that only community can create. This year, we wanted to bring that spirit into Easter weekend with something soft, meaningful, and full of spring magic. That’s how Bunnies & Brunch was born.
But this event isn’t just about adorable rabbits and pastel‑coloured fun. It’s about learning, compassion, and celebrating Easter in a way that honours the animals at the heart of the season.
Bunnies & Brunch is also part of a bigger vision for Bord‑Aire: becoming a place where neighbours gather not just for programs, or private rentals but for moments that feel meaningful. We want to be the heart of the neighbourhood, a place where families celebrate holidays, where friendships grow, and where people feel connected to something bigger than themselves.
Events like this help us build that sense of togetherness. They give families a reason to slow down, share a meal, learn something new, and enjoy the simple joy of being part of a community that cares.
Fun for all ages!
No Easter celebration is complete without a warm, comforting brunch and we’re making sure this one feels extra special. For $10, guests can enjoy a plate of fluffy pancakes, sausage, and fresh fruit, along with hot coffee for the grown‑ups and juice for the kids. We’ll be serving our President’s beloved buttermilk pancake recipe, the same melt‑in‑your‑mouth pancakes her daughter absolutely adores. It’s the kind of homemade touch that makes the whole morning feel extra cozy.
And because Easter is all about play and togetherness, we’re filling the centre with classic springtime games. Weather permitting, we’ll have both indoor and outdoor activities, including:
Egg‑and‑spoon races
A bunny hop relay
A spring scavenger hunt
An Easter egg hunt
It’s simple, joyful fun the kind that gets everyone laughing, moving, and making memories.

Why We Chose a Rescue Instead of a Petting Zoo
We’re proud to partner with Popcorn & Binkies Rescue Haven, a foster‑based organization dedicated to caring for rabbits and other small animals who need safe homes, medical support, and patient, loving fosters. Instead of hosting a petting zoo — which can be stressful for animals and often encourages impulse Easter adoptions — we chose a more thoughtful approach.
By welcoming a rescue, we’re creating an experience that:
Puts animal wellbeing first The rescue team ensures the environment stays calm and comfortable for the bunnies attending.
Teaches families what real rabbit care looks like Guests learn what rabbits eat, how they communicate, and what they need to thrive, knowledge that helps prevent rabbits from being adopted impulsively and later surrendered.
Supports foster‑based rescue work Popcorn and Binkies relies on fosters to give rabbits and other small animals a safe place to land. Events like this help raise awareness for animals who are waiting for homes and the people who care for them.
Spotlighting Adoptable Animals & Inspiring New Fosters
One of the most meaningful parts of this event is the chance to shine a light on the rabbits and other small animals currently in the rescue’s care. Many of them are looking for loving adoptive homes or temporary foster families who can help them heal and grow.
By meeting the rescue team, learning about the animals’ stories, and seeing firsthand how gentle and sensitive rabbits truly are, families may discover that fostering is something they’d love to explore. Even if adoption isn’t the right fit, fostering can be a beautiful way to help an animal in need without a long‑term commitment.
Our hope is that Bunnies & Brunch not only brings joy to families, but also brings visibility to the incredible work Popcorn and Binkies does every day.
